International Women's Day 2019: In pictures
So International Women’s Day 2019 is done and dusted, and what a week it was! The 50/50 by 2030 Foundation hosted a number of sold-out events to celebrate the occasion, and seeing the enthusiasm and support from the audience to progress gender equality was certainly one of the highlights of the week.
We started our week with a historic National Press Club Address by Dr Anne Summers AO. The feminist icon’s speech jolted Australia awake as she illuminated the level of political misogyny in Australia. On the eve of IWD, Dr Summers joined the 50/50 by 2030 Foundation Director, Virginia Haussegger for a special In-Conversation at the University of Canberra. The crowd was hanging on to every single word as the two powerhouses discussed everything from Dr Summers' extraordinary career to issues relating to women, parliament, bullying, and sexism. And finally, a sweet ending as we wrapped up our week with some yummy cupcakes with the University of Canberra Students.
Here’s a quick snapshot of our week in pictures.
